about

As this album was coming together in late 2013, I knew I was onto something. A few tracks were taking shape quickly, the stars were aligned, everything except a title and album theme. I was listening to the Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Cole Porter Songbook track "All Through The Night" (yeah I know, go figure) and this classic line goes by.....

The day is my enemy, the night my friend,
For I'm always so alone
Till the day draws to an end.
But when the sun goes down
And the moon comes through,
To the monotone of the evening's drone

I think I jumped from my seat.....Tone Of The Evening Drone, what a sweet lyric. With a title and reference point to go on, the album wrapped up quickly. I knew I had something special and found a net-label to call home with Splitting Sounds Records [SSR-RR-0038]. I was in fine company with artists such as Deadlights, Dichotomy Engine, Moontauk, and Norman Sane among others.

Although the album was embraced by other artists in the ambient/experimental genre, sadly, the original SSR release suffered in the production dept. with questionable volume levels and glitches, all of my own doing simply because I rarely revisit my own work. Finally, here is the re-mastered version with new artwork and 2 bonus tracks although not from the original session, I felt fit as extra tracks.
